Three reasons for quantum computers made in Leipzig

01 · Industry-ready technology in use

German Aerospace Center (DLR)

SAXON Q delivered an NV center quantum computer to the DLR Innovation Centre in Ulm back in 2023. After intensive testing, the DLR certified the system as industry-ready in 2024. The 4-qubit system has been available via the QCi Connect cloud platform since 2025, industry partners, research institutions and startups can now use compute time on real qubits.

Fraunhofer IWU

Since 2025, a new 4-qubit quantum computer delivered by SAXON Q has been running at the Fraunhofer Institute for Machine Tools and Forming Technology IWU in Dresden, available to the Saxon research network for quantum technologies (SAX-QT). With the new API, the quantum computer can be integrated directly into the institute’s own programs, so software is developed straight on the quantum processor and tested for industrial applications.

Our core technological processes, the overall system, and the integration into CMOS semiconductor technology and various mobile applications are comprehensively protected by patents.

Scaling and further development are built in: it is not only the core technology that is patented, but the entire system and the computer itself, ensuring comprehensive protection.

Scalable technology — from desktop to quantum chip

With a production process derived from the semiconductor industry, SAXON Q already ensures smooth scaling today. The desktop system is being miniaturised further to become an embedded chip in the coming years — and until then, the number of chips, and thus the parallel running qubits, keeps growing.

Funding round

TGFS invests in SAXON Q — opening a funding round

The TGFS Technologiegründerfonds Sachsen is investing a seven-figure sum in SAXON Q GmbH, giving targeted momentum to the next development and scaling phase. In parallel, SAXON Q is preparing a larger capital round to miniaturise its technology to chip size.

Sales partnership

Bechtle and SAXON Q agree on a sales partnership

Effective 1 April 2025, Bechtle adds SAXON Q’s quantum computers to its product portfolio, giving companies early access to this potentially disruptive future technology, a key step toward industrial use of quantum computing across Europe.
