- - IT service provider Bechtle makes SaxonQ quantum computer available to industrial partners
- - Partnership enables early application of future technology in practice
Leipzig/Bonn: The manufacturer of mobile quantum computers SaxonQ and the Bechtle IT system house in Bonn have agreed a sales partnership with effect from 1 April 2025. Bechtle is thus adding SaxonQ's quantum computers to its product portfolio and giving companies early access to this potentially disruptive future technology.
The partnership is an important step towards making quantum computing from Europe available for industrial applications. The SaxonQ quantum computer is particularly suitable for this due to its mobile use and operation at room temperature.
Quantum computers offer the potential to solve complex optimisation problems much faster and more energy-efficiently than conventional digital computers. They are seen as promising problem solvers, particularly in areas such as artificial intelligence, the control of decentralised energy systems and medical research. Unlike many other systems, SaxonQ's mobile quantum computers operate at room temperature and can be used in any industrial environment without complex peripherals. The use of these quantum computers is therefore particularly exciting for industrial applications.
SaxonQ CEO Dr Frank Schlichting on the partnership: ‘The fact that one of Europe's leading IT service providers has included our technology in its portfolio is a significant milestone for us. It shows their confidence in our solution, which is ideal for practical research and initial industrial applications thanks to its compact design and operation at room temperature. With Bechtle's experience, we can further develop our mobile quantum computer and align it specifically to the requirements of industry.’
Christian Behma, Managing Director of Bechtle IT System House Bonn: ‘The collaboration with SaxonQ helps us to prepare our customers for upcoming challenges in the field of quantum technologies and to offer them solutions for mobile quantum computing. This is an important addition to our technology portfolio. It is based on new, disruptive technologies and substantial research & development.’

About SaxonQ
Quantum computers have the potential to be significantly more powerful than traditional computers and could solve complex problems in medical research, energy supply, logistics, or artificial intelligence in the future. The Leipzig-based startup SaxonQ, founded in 2021, has succeeded in constructing an industrial-grade quantum computer – moving away from the traditional bulky installations towards a compact, flexible box. Unlike previous quantum computers, these processors do not require cooling or complex infrastructure and are resistant to disturbances. The system is already being used by major clients and aims to enable entirely new applications for quantum computers, such as in satellites, autonomous driving, or even in smartphones in a few years.
